WELCOME to Kids Rein, Therapeutic Horseback Riding for Children with Special Needs.  We offer a unique therapeutic horseback riding experience for individuals with varying disabilities.  Kids Rein specializes in early intervention techniques riding children as young a 3 years old.

Anna Marie Shelander

1993-2012

Anna Marie Shelander of Denver, NC, passed away Dec. 23, 2012.  She was only 19 years old.  Anna is the daughter of one of our wonderful Volunteers and Assistant Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Ursula Compton.  
Survivors include Anna's mother Ursula Compton, father Dan Shelander and his family, step-father Clifford Compton, and brothers Ben and Alex Shelander.
Unselfishly, Ursula and the family made a wonderful generous
offering to Kids Rein - 
 "In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kids Rein."  
Kids Rein is so humbled by this act of kindness.  
Our hearts and prayers go out to you Ursula for such a tragic loss.  May God bless you and your family and may He hold you in his arms during this incredibly difficult time of healing.
Remember, Anna is in a much better place and is no longer suffering.
We love you Ursula and know we are here for you.
Thank you for giving so much of yourself to Kids Rein with your genuine unconditional love for the children that we serve.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Gerald McGraw and The Mecklenburg Bull Shooters for hosting their 2nd Annual "Shoot for Joy" fundraiser on Saturday, Aug 25, 2012 benefiting Kids Rein.  It was a beautiful day and the turn out was great!  We all had a fantastic time shooting Sport Clays.
The Mecklenburg Bull Shooters raised $7,000 for Kids Rein!!!!!

"MY HERO'S HORSE"
Therapeutic Riding Program
for injured Police Officers

 Kids Rein is proud to expand its therapeutic horseback riding services to police officers who have been injured in the line of duty.   Currently, Kids Rein is riding Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officers.  

The way it works, says Teressa Tucker, Founder of Kids Rein, is that we want to give back to officers who risk their lives for us every day. The only way we feel we can give back is by offering equine  assisted therapy to these injured heroes.

Kids Rein is looking for officers to volunteer their time to assist the injured officers during equine therapy sessions.  Officers are there to help each other out, which really helps the injured officer in many different ways.  (A medical release is required for each rider before riding.)

Please consider donating to this program.  All donations are tax deductible. 

A Rider Registration Packet must be filled out for all riders.  A Volunteer Packet is required for all volunteers.  These forms are located on the “Forms” page of the Kids Rein website.
